AB  - The black oak, Colombobalanus excelsa is an endemic species of Colombia and is considered endangered, included today in a vulnerable category with a high risk of entering a higher category because of the rate in which their populations decline due to human activities. Its current distribution is restricted to four populations isolated, located in the departments of Huila (PNN Cueva de los Guacharos), Antioquia (Amalfi), Santander (SFF Guanentá Alto Rio Fonce) and Valle del Cauca (PNN Los Farallones).
