TY - THES TI - Brechas salariales por raza en Cali PB - Universidad Icesi PY - 2013 UR - http://hdl.handle.net/10906/76637 AB - In this paper we make an Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition in order to estimate the wage gap between white people and afroamerican people in Cali using data from the survey of employment and quality of life. The estimation is weighted by the number of individuals that recognize themselves as afroamerican as a mesure of statistical correction given the deaggregation of the data. Furthermore, we include fixed effects by “comuna” conglomerates in the labor participation equation to recognize the rol of location in the wage gap. Also, we consider different covariables in the explain of the labor participation equation for the afroamerican in order to control by migration and discrimination. We found that, no controling with the fixed effects, the wage gap by race in Cali is understimated, conclusion that supports those results found by Black et al. (2013). On the other hand, when we include variables that recognize the migrations and perceved discrimination, the wage gap is 42 %, where the explained part is 9% and the unexplained is 33% KW - Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas y Económicas KW - Producción intelectual registrada - Universidad Icesi KW - Maestría en Economía KW - Salarios KW - Diferencias salariales KW - Cali (Valle del Cauca, Colombia) KW - Oaxaca-Blinder KW - Afrodescendientes - Colombia KW - Wage gap KW - Oaxaca-Blinder KW - Wage Descomposition KW - Economía KW - Economics ER -
