General principles of management and goals of acute migraine treatment are described. An evidence summary for
treatment of ambulatory patient and in the emergency departments and the new drugs and new approaches are
listed- Use of scales for the evaluation of the severity and disability of the headaches and to measure the treatment
efficacy are recommended: MIDAS, Migraine-ACT, MTOQ and SNAE. Guidelines for the treatment of migraine
attacks during pregnancy and during migraine status are given.
