Resumen

The work had the objective of identifying in which way the management of human resources based on the Competence Theory, can help in the strategy of a banking institute. It is characterized as descriptive research of a qualitative and quantitative nature with a questionnaire data collection technique. The bibliographic survey referred to the strategic management of human resources, with a focus on the Competence Theory, in which the relevance of the strategy in people management was shown in the search for employee development. The research instrument application was made with employees of a banking institution, who during the investigation participated in a management training course. The intention of this research was to relate the competencies highlighted in the literature with those found in the respondents. The research population is 29 (twenty nine) employees and the sample is 28 (twenty eight) persons researched. An analysis of the data showed that competencies like assuming responsibilities and knowing how to learn are present in the majority of those who were researched and that those who are already related to organization and processing need to be perfected.
