Andrés Caicedo: suicidio y consagración

El artículo indaga las relaciones entre consagración literaria y suicidio, limitándose al análisis del caso del escritor colombiano Andrés Caicedo. Se trata, ante todo, de un intento por describir y analizar cómo el proceso de su consagración literaria se ha producido en relación con un “hecho” emblemático: el suicidio. El artículo se divide en tres partes. En la primera, se muestra de qué manera la vida de Caicedo se ha convertido en una espera al mismo tiempo necesaria y calculada de la muerte. En la segunda, se estudia el modo en que esa vida organizada como destino adquiere un sentido que se manifiesta en cada uno de sus “acontecimientos”. Por último, la tercera parte cuestiona las ideas más comunes sobre el suicidio de Andrés Caicedo, mostrando que esa decisión no fue un gesto inequívoco.

The paper studies the links between literary consecration and suicide, focusing in the case study of the Colombian writer Andres Caicedo. The idea, above all, is to describe and analyze how the process of literary consecration in this case has been produced in relation to an emblematic “fact”: his suicide. The paper has three parts. The first one shows how Caicedo’s life has been transformed into a waiting of death, necessary and calculated at the same time. In the second one, a study is made of how this life organized as fate assumes a sense that is manifested in each one of its “events”. The final part criticizes the most common ideas about Andres Caicedo´s suicide, showing that this decision was not an unequivocal token.
