La Feria de Cali y el Orden Social: 1971 y 2019.

Abstract

En este artículo se indaga por el sentido que sectores de la Élite de gobierno adjudican a la Feria de Cali para la construcción de un orden social. Este análisis se enmarca en los años 1971 y 2019, los cuales representan momentos históricos relevantes para la ciudad. Para ello, se realiza un acercamiento teórico, que guía la discusión, desde los conceptos de Sentidos, Élite de gobierno, Orden social e Imaginarios sociales. Asimismo, para cumplir con el objetivo de la investigación se propone una metodología centrada en la revisión de archivos de medios de comunicación y documentos oficiales de la Alcaldía de Cali. Sumado a esto, se entrevista a un personaje que ha sido partícipe de la organización de la Feria durante varios años. Finalmente, se concluye que la Feria le permite a la Élite de gobierno impulsar unos imaginarios que ordenan socialmente a la población, lo que le es funcional para dominarla y conseguir intereses que le son beneficiosos tanto a ella como a la ciudad. This article investigates the meaning that sectors of the gov-ernment Elite assign to the Feria de Cali for the construction of a social order. This analysis is framed in the years 1971 and 2019, which represent relevant historical moments for the city. There-fore, a theoretical approach is made, which guides the discussion, from the concepts of Meanings, Government Elite, Social Order, and Social Imaginaries. Likewise, to fulfill the objective of the in-vestigation, a methodology focused on the review of media files and official documents of the Cali Mayor’s Office is proposed. In addition, a person who has been a participant in the organization of the Fair for several years is interviewed. Finally, it is concluded that the Fair allows the elite sector of the government to promote some imaginaries that socially order the population, which is func-tional to dominate it and achieve interests that are beneficial to both it and the city.
