¿Hay un infiel en la relación triangular de China, Estados Unidos y Venezuela?.

Abstract

Estados Unidos ha atribuido a Venezuela, de manera recurrente, algo parecido a deslealtad, debido a su relación con China; mientras que China ha sido acusada de alterar las reglas del juego en la región, especialmente en países democráticamente débiles como Venezuela. En este contexto de escalada de acusaciones, más allá de lo coloquial y de paralelismos al referirse a si Venezuela ha sido infiel a su relación tradicional con Estados Unidos, el presente artículo argumenta que las relaciones entre China, Estados Unidos y Venezuela son triangulares. Por ello, una pregunta central que debe abordarse es si la presencia del país asiático en Venezuela tiene implicaciones económicas y políticas para las relaciones entre este último y Estados Unidos. Desde una perspectiva comparada y de las relaciones triangulares, se analiza la formación de esta relación y su desarrollo en el campo económico y político-diplomático. The United States has recurrently attributed something akin to “disloyalty” to Venezu-ela due to its relationship with China, while the latter has been accused of altering the game rules in the region, especially in weak democracies such as the Venezuelan. In this escalating accusations context – beyond the colloquialism and parallels when referring to whether this country has been “unfaithful” to its traditional relationship with the United States – this article argues that relations between China, the United States, and Venezuela are triangular. Therefore, the question whether the presence of the Asian country in Venezuela has had economic and political implications for the relationship between Venezuela and the United States has been addressed as one of the main points. The formation of this triangular relationship and its development in the economic and political-diplomatic fields is analyzed from a comparative and triangular relationship perspective.
