To this end, a study was carried out which involved 60 medium and high technology mSMEs in Cali, Colombia. The results of the study show that innovation in products and processes has a positive influence on the performance of the mSMEs. These results not only reinforce the claim that innovation can not only be a sustainable competitive advantage, but can also be useful to make entrepreneurs aware of the need to innovate in order to improve competitiveness, and to help public administration officials in their role as promoters of innovation through financial and non-financial assistance programs.Ítem Asociación significativa entre los modos de conversión de conocimiento y los modelos de decisión en las mipymes de cali-colombia(Universidad Icesi, 2011-07-30T18:29:44Z) González González, PatriciaThe article seeks to determine the ciations between the generation of knowledge regarding tacit-explicit knowledge conversion and rational, political, and anarchic process-based decision-making models. To this end, a survey was conducted among 270 managers of micro, small, or mediumsized enterprises (MSMEs) registered with the Cali Chamber of Commerce. The methodology involved using a chi-square test to establish association levels based on an analysis of dichotomous contingency tables. Funding has often been mentioned as a major barrier to carry out innovation activities. This empirical paper analyzes the relationship between funding sources and innovative activity by IberoAmerican micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (Msmes) based on the results of a survey conducted on a sample of 1970 firms. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between the use of borrowed funds and innovative activity. This demonstrates the importance of mechanisms to facilitate Msmes access to external debt funding in order to achieve high levels of innovation.
