During last two decades, the presence of people with other national identities in Italy has grown substantially affecting social, economic and demographic profiles. Measures of political
integration, particularly those provided at the national level, have demonstrated ineffective,
and failed to represent migrants’ interests as far as political participation and civic life are
concerned.
Similarly to the national political scenario and taking into account the absence of a national reference regulative framework, some municipalities and regions have independently
established significant organisms like the elected councils or the representative of the Adviser
(Consigliere aggiunto in Italian).
