The index measures the degree of interdependence of the economy of a specific country with other countries. The objective of this work is its practical application to the Colombian case using a set of variables that are consistent with the macroeconomic reality of Colombia. A comparison was made against the following countries: Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, USA, Spain, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela. These are the countries with which Colombia has the strongest commercial and economic relations. The results show that its application to the Colombian scenario is valid and that it allows developing major strategies in international trade relations.Ítem Redes empresariales e innovación: el caso de una red del sector cosmético en Bogotá (Colombia)(Universidad Icesi, 2011-04-12T22:23:12Z) Garay Quintero, Leonardo; Gómez Cardona, Jorge Hernán; Grueso Hinestroza, Merlin PatriciaA Method of encouraging business innovation is participation in associative processes, such as enterprise networks. The aim of this study was to identify actions favoring innovation in a group of companies that established a business network in the cosmetic industry in Bogotá, Colombia. We used a questionnaire base on the concept of innovation described in the Oslo Handbook (OECD, 2005), and analyzed data using graph theory. The results indicate that companies innovate, but they make few investments in acquiring knowledge. We also found that companies develop actions for internal improvement more frequently than they generate improvements in relationships with other actors in the network.Ítem Papel de gestión humana en el cumplimiento de la responsabilidad social empresarial(Universidad Icesi, 2011-04-12T22:20:13Z) Naranjo Valencia, Julia Clemencia; Calderón Hernández, Gregorio; Álvarez Giraldo, Claudia MilenaHuman resource management is going beyond having a merely instrumental role, to becoming the support or organizational competitiveness. One of the areas in which human resource management must support companies is in fulfilling their social l responsibility. This research aims to find evidence of this relationship base on a theoretical perspective and a comparison of a set of Colombian companies. We performed a triangulation of both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection. We carried out and analysis of the validity and reliability of information, and used cluster techniques to analyze the information, and complemented them witch descriptive and qualitative techniques, such as discourse analysis.Ítem Colectivos de inversión empresarial: una opción hacia el desarrollo local(Universidad Icesi, 2011-04-12T22:16:40Z) Ramírez, Elbar; Jiménez Estévez, Pedro; Cajigas Romero, MargotEste estudio tuvo como objetivo estructurar el modelo CIEM (Colectivos de Inversión Empresarial), orientado a disminuir la pobreza en cada localidad que lo adapte a su realidad, al crear nuevas empresas, fortalecer las que presentan dificultades y reabrir las cerradas. Se realizó mediante el método social, aplicando un sondeo de opinión a potenciales emprendedores y una mesa de trabajo integrada por agentes sociales claves, quienes con sus ideas prácticas asociadas al análisis teórico, permitieron concluir que es viable implementar un modelo impulsor de empresas en tres dimensiones: empresa nueva, empresa repotenciada y empresa reiniciada, sustentadas esas tres categorías de empresas por emprendedores e inversores unidos para forjar el desarrollo local.Ítem Perspectivas teóricas usadas para el estudio de la responsabilidad social empresarial: una clasificación con base en su racionalidad(Universidad Icesi, 2011-04-12T22:13:22Z) Alvarado Herrera, Alejandro; Bigné Alcañiz, Enrique; Currás Pérez, RafaelBased on an in-depth review of relevant literature published in the last 38 years, this work has two main objectives. First of all, it is aimed at identifying, reviewing, and synthe-sizing theories used in the literature for studying Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It discusses both the fundamental premises and the main criticism to which it has been subject. Secondly, it is geared toward classifying these theories by means of the application of the two following criteria: (i) the underlying primary rationality of each theory, and (ii) the conception of the role of business institutions in the society for which they advocate. This classification is a useful tool for properly combining theoretical perspectives and various rationalities, thus enriching the work of those who are concerned with the study of CSR.Ítem Valor razonable: un modelo de valoración incorporado en las normas internacionales de información financiera(Universidad Icesi, 2011-04-12T22:09:46Z) Silva Palavecinos, BertaThe concept of fair value, which has appeared for decades in Anglo-Saxon accounting literature, gained great significance when it was incorporated by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) as a pricing model in International Financial Reporting Standards. Nevertheless, its meaning, when it is used, how it is determined, its impact on the equity of a company, and other aspects of meaning are scattered throughout various standards. Decision makers need to have a clear idea of the subject. This article presents a compilation and reflections on the issues without attempting to be exhaustiveÍtem La distancia psíquica y el desempeño exportador: un reto para la PyMe en la era de la globalización(Universidad Icesi, 2011-04-12T22:07:01Z) Geldres Weiss, Valeska Viola; Etchebarne López, María SoledadThe objective of this research article is to present an empirical analysis of the relation between the company managers’ perception of the psychic distance to international markets and export performance, including a discussion of some of the structural characteristics of companies. A study was carried out in La Araucanía region in Chile with a sample consisting of 88 exporting companies, most of which are small and medium-sized enterprises 8SMEs) in the agricultural and forestry sectors. The data was analyzed using Fisher’s exact test and analysis of variance. The results show that there is a positive relation between psychic distance and export performance, as well as company size.Ítem Relación en las percepciones del estilo de liderazgo del jefe inmediato con el desempeño laboral de los estudiantes en práctica de la Universidad Icesi(Universidad Icesi, 2011-04-12T22:03:39Z) Willman Carvajal, Sandra; Velasco Arango de Lloreda, María IsabelBased on the experience with internship students, the CEDEP (Center for Professional Development at Icesi University in Cali, Colombia) it has been found that the leadership style of immediate managers is one of the aspects involved in the performance during the first work experience. This exploratory research shows which management leadership styles (based on information gathered in questionnaires regarding two perceptions: the boss’s perception and the intern’s perception of his/her boss) are most closely related to the performance of internship students. One of the conclusions is that the more the students perceive that their bosses have leadership styles with multiple qualities (such as, e.g. guiding, participative, goal-oriented, and thoughtful) the better their performance during the internship will be.Ítem Aproximación de reclamos contingentes para la predicción de riesgos de crédito en sus medidas de determinación de la distancia de default y su probabilidad de quiebra para Colombia(Universidad Icesi, 2011-04-12T21:59:50Z) Vargas Vives, Jaime; Cruz Merchán, Juan SergioContingent claim approach to forecasting credit risk based don measurements of the distance-to-default and the probability of bankruptcy in Colombia The purpose of this article is to assess the extent of applicability of bankruptcy – Black and Scholes (1973) and Merton (1974) – to the securities market in Colombia using the contingent claim approach in the context of the new current economic cycle in Latin America. It particularly examines the ability of the contingent claim approach, from the perspective of Moody’s KMV, to estimate the two following credit risk indicators: distance to bankruptcy and probability of default. It then provides a comparison of these measurements versus those generated by the market. The findings suggest that there is a possibility of using this model in Colombia, especially with non-listed companiesÍtem Políticas activas de empleo para Cali-Colombia(Universidad Icesi, 2010-07-16) Mora Rodríguez, Jhon James; González Espitia, Carlos GiovanniThis article discusses the implementation of active employment generating policies for the labor market in Cali, Colombia. The main objectives of active employment generating policies are: reducing the unemployment rate, decreasing participation in the informal labor market, and replacing poor quality jobs with good quality ones. The collective actions of regional public agencies, regional entrepreneurs, and academic institution are fundamental to generating high quality employment in the city.
