A large industrial company routed to achieve the environmental management certification (ISO 14001) got affected the process by the finding a Tree –about to collapse– in a community park adjacent to its facilities. The study of the situation determines the presence of two transformers, stored in the firm maintenance area. An examination of its level of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) shows that 13 gallons have been leaked, contaminating soil and likely to have reached the sewer system of the city. The community is alarmed, the media involved and the company must make improvement plans imposed by the environmental authority. Due to the fact, changes occur within the company and the level of development, new projects and expansion plans abroad are suspended.

MEII: Sistema interactivo para promover la construcción expresiva musical en niños de 4 a 8 años.

MEII is an interactive system designed for musical composition by corporal expression. It uses corporal gestures as metaphors to control a basic musical structure system as pentatonic scales (McFerrin, 2009) and pitch transformation (Kinoki, s.f). The system was conceived as a tool to promote the musical expression of children in the range of 4 to 8 years without the necessity of musical instruments or some kind of previous musical knowledge. For its development, close attention has been paid to children’s motor limitations at this age, as well as to the importance of experimentation. The system has been developed using diverse techniques of visualization by computer, digital audio analysis and synthesis. Although it’s been proved with success with kids in that age range, in this moment it’s in an evaluation phase.

This paper evaluates the state of the art and concepts that links corporate governance and IT governance. Makes an historical review of the frameworks’ evolution and related standards up to now. Helps the reader to have a general understanding of the IT Governance topics and lets develop our own concept of it. Helps to use further the control frameworks, standards and regulations for a proper implementation of these in his organization to align IT with the corporate governance.

Anatomy guided bottom up creature skinning
(Universidad Icesi, 2011-07-13T22:40:32Z) Loaiza Buitrago, Diego Fernando; Navarro Newball, Andrés Adolfo; Herrera Botero, Francisco Julián
It is possible to guide skin construction from the creature’s inner anatomy. This paper introduces a method where is provided the system with bones, a set of muscles and a set of subsidiary organs in order to generate the mesh of the skin. The method generates a set of feature points from the inner anatomy. Then, it projects the feature points on a mirror plane which cuts the creature in the middle. Once in the plane, triangulate and reflect the points and adjust the skin’s mesh inflating it and deflating it until all skin vertices are within some threshold of the underlying anatomy. Finally, fur is generated with offsets calculated from the skin’s mesh. Feature point generation and automatic mesh generation strongly rely on the anatomical knowledge provided to the algorithm. However, it eliminates the need of a preexisting skin mesh. The resulting mesh is consistent with the underlying anatomy.
