Ítem La conformación del currículo en Administración: un estudio desde el isomorfismo institucional(Universidad Icesi, 2013-10-01) Ramírez Hassan, Andrés; Gómez Sánchez, Diego Fernando; Aparicioa, SebastianManagement education must ensure a balance between theory and practice, however, there are many disagreements about what is relevant and pertinent in education managers, with investigative perspectives competing between rigor and instrumental. Based on explanatory methodology, this article discusses how curriculum of Management programs in Bogota is structured, within the framework of institutional isomorphism. The results indicate that regulatory influences, corresponding to professional expectations, and the mimetic, referring to comparisons with other programs, explain the structure of the curriculum in Management education. Using models such as Multinomial Logit and Probit, as well as Sequential Binary Logit, we assess the probability that a person makes an occupational decision to be an entrepreneur, independent formal, informal or employee, the first state being the one that has the greatest effect on regional development. The results show us that education, use of information technologies and telecommunications, and financial capital are the variables that contribute the most to the probability of being an entrepreneur. These results may add new elements to the public policy discussion related to entrepreneurship and company growth.Ítem Retos de gestión intercultural en las actividades de internacionalización de microempresas de Medellín(Universidad Icesi, 2013-10-01) Aguilar Barrientos, Sara Cristina; Bustamante Zapata, Luis FernandoThis document analyses cross-cultural management challenges in the internationalisation activities of small to medium enterprises in Medellin, Colombia. Electronic questionnaires were used to collect information from five micro-enterprises in the services industry. Their responses were subsequently studied using a partially ordered meta-matrix using an analytical-synthetic method. The work differs from others that focus on business skills for survival, because it emphasises in exploring advanced skills related to growth and profitability, that is, cross cultural management in international management. Eleven challenges are listed to describe the capabilities that SME’s in Medellin must build on to make its internationalisation activities more effectiveÍtem Efecto del burnout y la sobrecarga en la calidad de vida en el trabajo(Universidad Icesi, 2013-10-01) Patlán Pérez, JuanaThe burnout syndrome occurs in workers who have contact with customers or clients. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of burnout and work overload on the quality of work life (QWL) in personnel at a health institute in Mexico. Cross-sectional and descriptive research was conducted with a stratified sample of 673 workers. Four scales were used to measure work overload, burnout, and two dimensions of QWL: work-family conflict (WFC) and job satisfaction. The results indicate a positive and significant effect of work overload on burnout and WFC, and a negative effect on job satisfaction. Furthermore, burnout is associated positively with WFC, and negatively with job satisfaction.Ítem Diagnóstico del sistema profesional de carrera y certificación de competencias gerenciales de los servidores públicos en México(Universidad Icesi, 2013-10-01) Lámbarry Vichis, Fernando; Chávez Espejel, José Antonio; Chávez, Adela; Trujilo Flores, Mara; Rivas Tovar, Luis ArturoThis research performs an analysis of the concept of public servant, describes and differentiates the civil services and career services professionals, and makes a documental diagnosis of the state of professional career system in Mexico. The operation of the professional service career in the Legal Department of the President of Mexico is also diagnosed, using a documental analysis and focus interviews with those responsible for its administration and with aspiring candidates. From the above, a lack of consistency of evaluation instruments was found, thus a new competency model for public servants in Mexico is proposed with the aim of assessing and ensuring consistency with the guiding principles.Ítem Cuantificación del riesgo de incumplimiento en créditos de libre inversión: un ejercicio econométrico para una entidad bancaria del municipio de Popayan, Colombia(Universidad Icesi, 2013-10-01) Salazar Villano, Fabian EnriqueThis paper approaches the study of credit risk as an objective of modern banking regulation, advancing from theory to get a specific quantitative approach. In this way, two econometric models are estimated for a representative bank institution in terms of consumption credits in the municipality of Popayán, Department of the Cauca (Colombia). These demonstrate that the bank’s portfolio is risk-free according to some clients and credit characteristics. On the other hand, it is found that the default risk is elastic or highly sensitive to economic cycles, but inelastic regarding interest and unemployment rates in this cityÍtem Empleo del comportamiento estacional para mejorar el pronóstico de un commodity: el caso del mercado internacional del azúcar(Universidad Icesi, 2013-10-01) Alonso Cifuentes, Julio César; Arcila Vásquez, Andrés MauricioThis paper studies the behavior of seasonal patterns in the international sugar price. Using seasonal unit root test and a monthly sample from 1989 to 2010, a non-stationary stochastic seasonal pattern was observed. This pattern implies that a “summer” could become a “winter”, a result that had not been previously documented for this market. On the other hand, using these findings, our results show that is possible to create an AutoRegressive Moving Average (ARMA) model that out-performs other approaches that do not take in account this kind of seasonality when forecasting the sugar price.Ítem The role of a public university in a global environment: Networks and externalities of the R&D of the Cauca University(Universidad Icesi, 2013-10-01) Correa Correa, Zamanda; Delgado Hurtado, Carolina; Conde Cardona, Yenni AngélicaThis article analyzes indicators of science and technology, showing the participation of the University of Cauca in the generation of network externalities. The methodology addresses quantitative and qualitative designs. Consists of a descriptive study that covers the main indicators of R&D and network externalities from the view of the specialized literature, and an analytical study that uses the technique known as method of consensus panel of experts. The answers of the experts are processed to determine the level of consistency and identify indicators of R&D that facilitate the measurement of network externalities, such as the production of new knowledge‐related products; number of networks through programs of postgraduates in national conventions; and number of graduates in specializations, master's and doctoral programs.Ítem El marketing al servicio de las organizaciones del tercer sector(Universidad Icesi, 2013-10-01) Toca Torres, Claudia EugeniaThe objective of this article is to determine the real meaning of marketing dedicated to the service of social organizations. This work distances itself from, the so widely researched, social marketing, and does not propose the discretionary adoption of tools and processes of commercial marketing. Instead of this, the article looks for an approach in keeping with the public nature and activities of social organizations. From the analysis of specialized literature in the field of social and political sciences, such as institutionalism, social programs, public property, poverty and vulnerability, the article suggests the most suitable vocabulary for this type of marketing, and contrasts the literature with Colombian social reality. Finally, key points are presented in order to propose the content of a course on social issues and marketing.Ítem Vol. 29 No. 129 (Octubre/Diciembre 2013) / ESTUDIOS GERENCIALES(Universidad Icesi, 2013-10-01) Universidad IcesiContiene: El marketing al servicio de las organizaciones del tercer sector // Toca Torres , Claudia Eugenia / 386-395 Pág.-- The role of a public university in a global environmetn: networks and externalities of the R&D of the Cauca University // Delgado Hurtado , Carolina ; Correa Correa, Zamanda ; Conde Cardona, Yenni Angélica / 396-415 Pág.-- Empleo del comportamiento estacional para mejorar el pronóstico de un commodity: el caso del mercado internacional del azúcar // Alonso Cifuentes, Julio César ; Arcila, Andrés Mauricio / 406-415 Pág. -- A model of organizational learning in practice Duarte Aponte , Sandra Patricia ; Castañeda Zapata, Delio Ignacio // 439-444 Pág. -- Caso de estudio: La empresarialidad informal como un reto de política económica : el caso de La Paz y El Alto, Bolivia // Parra Benal, León Dario / 485-492 Pág.Ítem A model of organizational learning in practice(Universidad Icesi, 2014-04-10) Duarte Aponte, Sandra Patricia; Castañeda Zapata, Delio IgnacioThe paper analyzes the organizational learning process experienced in the design of a new packing service for the pharmaceutical sector, using the 4I model designed by Crossan, Lane and White (1999) and its further developments. It was carried out an exploratory study using qualitative research methods. It was found evidence supporting the learning processes stated by the original model and its further developments. The interviews and focus group results suggested that organizational learning is not always a lineal process as stated by the model. Individual and group learning are parallel interacting and unfinished processes. This study contributed to adding empirical evidence to the 4I model of organizational learning and its further developments, in a manufacturing firm
