Ítem Una mirada a las empresas de los estudiantes y egresados: el caso de la Universidad EAN(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Parra Bernal, León Darío; Argote Cusi, Milenka LinnethThe main aim of this study is to characterize student and graduate enterprises of EAN University, an institution that has included the teaching of entrepreneurship in its curriculum. In this project, a total of 346 students and graduates who had an enterprise completed a questionnaire. They were asked about: use of technology, access to financing system, training level of its human resources, market access, level of association of their companies and business innovation. As a result, the highest percentage of companies surveyed were classified as micro enterprises with less of ten employees and concentrated mainly in the trade and service sectors. A low percentage exports, has limited access to finance system, employed technicians or graduates, a low percentage are engaged in networks, and 28% have a family protocol.Ítem Análisis del tamaño de empaque en la cadena de valor para minimizar costos logísticos: un caso de estudio en Colombia(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Moreno Moreno, Jenny PatriciaThis paper presents a case study of a Colombian consumer packaged goods company, in order to minimize the costs related to its logistics operations by using different sizes of packages. Two optimization models were formulated: the first model is aimed at determining the 5 secondary package sizes that diminish the need to open closed packages to meet customer orders. The second model defines which of these packages are the most appropriate to serve each sales channel while minimizing the total logistics cost. The analysis shows useful findings on how optimizing the secondary package sizes could change the costs along the supply chain, leading to an average savings of 8.2%Ítem Inteligencia estratégica: un sistema para gestionar la innovación(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Aguirre, JoaoStrategic intelligence is a concept traditionally used in military, defense, and even as «government secrecy» contexts, although there are also tentative applications of an academic and administrative nature. This paper presents a conceptual proposal of the term “strategic intelligence”, using a combination of different tools currently used independently. The investigation begins with an analysis of the literature using bibliometric techniques, identifying leaders, networks, and dynamic publications. This showed that there is no specific definition in the literature that is applicable in managerial and administrative contexts. Finally, a process for managing strategic intelligence in an organization is proposed, which is conceived from strategic integration to ensure the management of innovation, productivity growth, and competitiveness.Ítem Estructura organizacional y relaciones inter-organizacionales: análisis en Instituciones Prestadoras de Servicios de Salud públicas de Colombia(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Marín Idárraga, Diego ArmandoThis paper investigates the influences that have the main variables of organizational structure on inter-organizational relations in health care public institutions in Colombia, through an explanatory cross-sectional study applying a structural equation model. The results indicate that decentralization promotes information exchange, resource complementarity and consistency of objectives and values, while the formalization favors only the exchange of information. Besides the positive impact of information exchange and matching of goals and values on the performance of inter-organizational relationship, in terms of satisfaction was evident.Ítem Planificación estratégica y niveles de competitividad de las Mipymes del sector comercio en Bogotá(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Melgarejo Molina, Zuray A.This paper analyzes the relationship between Strategic Planning and Competitiveness in MSMEs related to the business sector in Bogota, and taking into account the potential impact of this dimension in business performance. To do this, a contextualization of the business sector needs to be performed before assessing their competitiveness using the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) Competitiveness Map. Statistical analysis using correlational tests (SPSS software) infers that strategic planning has a significant impact on the functioning of other dimensions of organizational management of MSMEs and their competitiveness.Ítem La calidad desde el diseño: principios y oportunidades para la industria farmacéutica(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) García Aponte, Oscar FabiánQuality by design offers advantages over previous quality assurance models, being useful in areas where quality means the differentiation and implementation of flexible processes to stimulate continuous improvement and innovation. As a contribution to making quality by design easier to implement in the Colombian pharmaceutical industry, this paper discusses why this concept was originated. Likewise, based on a literature analysis, the noteworthiness of quality by design when products are being developed is discussed, and methodological strategies for its accomplishment are proposed. The reported evidence suggests that quality by design builds consumer, industrial and regulatory confidence on the quality of pharmaceutical products.Ítem Condiciones para el aprendizaje organizacional(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Castañeda Zapata, Delio IgnacioThe purpose of this research is to contribute to the understanding of some conditions that promote organizational learning, specifically the role of a culture of learning, training, strategic clarity, and organizational support. The research uses a quantitative methodology, with 613 participants, employees of a public organization and two private companies, all three located in Bogotá, Colombia. In order to carry out the study, a convenience sample was formed with the support of the heads of human resources departments of three organizations based on Bogotá, Colombia. A Likert scale of five levels of response was used for data collection. Results suggest that all the four studied conditions contribute to organizational learning. The findings of this work may guide professionals about where to focus efforts to promote the acquisition and generation of organizational knowledge. It also provides guidance to research work, broadening empirical evidence in this field of organizational relevance.Ítem Costo de servir como variable de decisión estratégica en el diseño de estrategias de atención a canales de mercados emergentes(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Mejía Argueta, ChristopherThe objective of this paper is to compare different traditional approaches about the cost analysis for emerging markets in order to identify gaps and opportunities related to cost-to-serve. The results show that no particular methodology exists for emerging markets, and there is no a robust analysis to define the profitability for customers, segments, or products. There is a clear gap because the definition of service strategies does not match the needs expressed by clients. A final table is introduced as a conclusion, showing the methodologies with the activities considered by them, as well as the opportunities, strengths and weaknessesÍtem Prácticas de evaluación financiera de inversiones en Colombia(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Muñoz Molina, YaromirThe main purpose of this study is to identify the capital budgeting practices in Colombia. The method used to gather information was a questionnaire applied to 300 companies, using the data to perform a statistical descriptive analysis, which highlights the net present value, the internal rate of return and the benefit/cost ratio as the main criteria. An inferential analysis was conducted for the effect of several company characteristics on a utilitarian variable called «proper use index». A comparative analysis(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Espinosa, ÁngelaThis paper aims to identify the differences and similarities in the way to explain self-organization from the different theories of complex systems used in management, which we have grouped as complex systems theories, complex adaptive systems (CAS) and organizational cybernetics. For this purpose we suggest three parallel and complementary dimensions to delimit the conceptual spaces where these theories can be placed. Using this classification as an analytical lens we summarize the core arguments suggested by each of these complex systems approaches, regarding the ideas of emergence and new order. This analysis helps us to conclude that the three theories coincide in their interest for studying nonlinear complex systems, but diverge in the nature of the complex problems studied. Finally we analyze the consequences that recognizing the similarities and differences between these approaches have, when using them for the study and research of social and business organizations and their managementÍtem El clima organizacional y su relación con la calidad de los servicios públicos de salud: diseño de un modelo teórico(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Sánchez Limón, Mónica LorenaUsing 83 theoretical and empirical studies published in countries from Latin American during the 21st century, this work has two main aims. First, to examine the multidimensionality and essential characteristics of organizational climate and the quality of public health services, and second, to design a theoretical model of the relationship between these two variables. The study was carried out according to desk research strategy, an analysis method comprising the literature review, screening, consultation, removal/collection and integration of data. From the analysis performed, it is theoretically inferred that there is a relationship between organizational climate and quality of public health services. However, it is recommended to conduct empirical studies on public health services to strengthen the theoretical perspectives analyzed.Ítem La efectividad de la publicidad oposicional(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Farías Nazel, PabloThe purpose of this study is to test the viability of oppositional advertising in Chile. Data were collected via controlled experimentation, through the manipulation of oppositional versus non-oppositional visual and verbal information within a printed ad for a new car. The findings suggest that oppositional ads may be less effective on ad recall, despite being perceived less complex by participants. While experimental research is not sufficient to establish the generalized non-superiority of oppositional advertising in Chile, the results support the idea that oppositional advertising might not be more effective than non-oppositional advertising for many marketing campaigns in Chile.Ítem Vol. 31 N°. 134 (Enero - Marzo 2015) / ESTUDIOS GERENCIALES(Universidad Icesi, 2015-01-01) Universidad IcesiContine:La efectividad de la publicidad oposicional // Pablo Farías -- El clima organizacional y su relación con la calidad de los servicios públicos de salud: diseño de un modelo teórico // Idolina Bernal González, Norma Angélica Pedraza Melo y Mónica Lorena Sánchez Limón -- Enfoques teóricos de manejo de complejidad en las organizaciones: un análisis comparativo // Luz E.
