(Universidad Icesi, 2015-10-01) Merzthal, Jorge; Wakabayashi, José Luis
The goal of the research is to generate profitable logistics and commercial strategies using a top-down methodology, based on financial statements to close identified gaps in the cost-to-serve for emerging markets. The methodology has three phases and 12 steps that align strategy, scope, processes and activity-based costing with the segmentation of profitable, marginal and non-profitable accounts to increase profitability. A set of tools is proposed to prioritize customer attention and to define ideal logistics/commercial strategies for the objects of the study (products clients, etc.).

The present study aims to characterize the organizational climate in two Hospitals of high complexity in Chile, determining the most and least influential dimensions. A questionnaire consisting of 71 variables arranged in 14 dimensions was applied to a sample of 561 functionaries. The results were interpreted using the standardized analysis of average values and its reliability ratified by means of Cronbach’s alpha. It was determined that the dimensions with above average influence were: Identity, labor motivation and responsibility; while the dimensions that have an impact below the average turned out to be: Team and people’s distribution and material, conflict administration and communication.

Propuesta de abastecimiento de medicamentos coordinando multiniveles de demanda. Un caso ilustrativo chileno
(Universidad Icesi, 2015-10-01) Coluccio Piñones, Giuliani; Rojas Zúñiga, Fernando; Román Luza, Daniel; Farías Soto, Pamela
The supply system of medicines in primary health care in Chile has a unique nationwide provider and does not consider multilevel demand for calculating the procurement, generating inventory surplus. This paper proposes a regular supply policy review that uses a probabilistic demand forecasting modeling the dependence structure, individually and through bi-varied copulas, coordinating demand multilevel minimizing costs associated with the purchase, maintenance and storage. The validation of the proposal was conducted on a sample of 104 medicines supplied by three years in a Chilean family health center. When comparing the current policy with the proposal, such weekly decline a 8.22% in purchasing costs, a 95.47% cost of ordering and a 54.6% of total costs.

Efficient markets are those in which it is not possible to predict the returns on assets. However, the adaptive markets hypothesis (AMH) states that efficiency is not a static feature of markets, but varies in time according to market conditions and the behavior of its agents. This paper seeks to test the predictability of the Colombian market, using the automatic variance ratio test in moving windows, to check whether it is efficient, and if efficiency is a static or dynamic feature of this market. The results show that the stock indexes of Colombia have predictable periods and periods of high uncertainty that are consistent with an adaptive market.

This study analyses to what extent do consumer involvement and perception of product quality explain the perceived price, using information about articles like bags and briefcases obtained through smell. The method for this study is a complete within-sample experimental design where subject rate their level of product involvement and perceived product quality based on three olfactory stimuli: leather, synthetic leather, and fabric. The results show that after using involvement and quality as two independent and simultaneous perspectives to evaluate the product, involvement is not relevant. Quality and not involvement is the variable that determines the perceived price.

This article analyzes the recent evolution and importance of non-aeronautical (or commercial) airport revenues today. Based on the above, it is found that commercial revenues represent about half of the total income of airports around the world. On this basis, this paper explores some key factors that influence commercial revenues, such as passenger profile, type of airport, trends in consumption, the evolution of business strategies, changes in the formulas of ownership and management of airports, and other new developments. These factors help to understand how airport managers adapt to the changes affecting airport revenues, take advantage of new opportunities and design new concepts.

(Universidad Icesi, 2015-10-01) Contreras, Orlando; Bronfman, Roberto Stein ; Vecino Arenas, Carlos Enrique
This paper assesses and compares the observed returns in the market portfolio with those obtained by an optimization strategy model that maximizes the Sharpe ratio, based on daily returns from the Colombian stock market data. Twelve recommended biannual portfolios are obtained for the period 2007-2012, which are then compared against real stock from the Colombian stock index. The results show the superiority of the strategy of the designed algorithm over the returns obtained in the market portfolio. This shows the inefficiency of the market portfolio and the potential of applying this strategy in other contexts and the possibility of adopting the model in real investment decisions.

(Universidad Icesi, 2015-10-01) Marquina Feldman, Percy; Reficco, Ezequiel
The literature is inconclusive on the influence of corporate social responsibility (CSR)initiatives on consumer behavior. This study examines the relationship between CSR and corporate abilities (CA) for Bogotá consumers. It also seeks to estimate willingness to pay by consumers according to the presence of each of these company management variables, and their trade-off in the act of purchasing. An experimental design study was performed using a discrete choice modelto testthe relationship between CSR and CA on consumer intention to purchase, and establish their willingness to pay (WTP) for specific social features. Some CSR initiatives, along with some CA, had a significantinfluen

(Universidad Icesi, 2015-10-01) Valencia Herrera, Humberto
The objective of the study is the analysis of the relation between long term investment and investment in working capital, using the generalized least squares method for panel data with error correction for heteroscedasticity, and panel specific autocorrelation. From the above, it is found that investment in long-term assets in publicly traded companies from 7 major Latin American countries is preceded by increases in working capital, which strengthens the hypothesis that this occurs in response to improved business opportunities. This relationship is statistically significant in general and in companies that have high or medium, but not low leverage.
