The relevancy of incorporating forecasts in the demand of storage in perishable products inside the cold chain, drifts of both its economic and social importance. This case of study presents a company with growth trend devoted to the storage of perishable products, and identifies that the applied forecasts nowadays do not contemplate methodological technologies. The present article incorporates technologies of forecasts of time-series in the volume of revenue and expenditure in a cold-storage room, in order to estimate the volume of

(Universidad Icesi, 2016-10-01) Texis Flores, Michelle; Mungaray Lagarda, Alejandro; Feitó Madrigal, Duniesky
The learning capacity of social based Mexican micro-entrepreneurs to generate new knowledge and incorporate it to its products and services is evaluated. The above is done through a confirmatory factor analysis and structural linear equation system, and the presence of static and dynamic dimensions in learning capacity, which are represented by individual stocks and flows of knowledge. The positive relationship between them demonstrates the presence of learning processes that impact positively their economic performance.

Análisis de atracción de inversión extranjera a países de la Alianza del Pacífico
(Universidad Icesi, 2016-10-01) Concha Velásquez, José Roberto; Gómez, Oscar Alberto
This research develops a method to attract foreign direct investment to Pacific Alliance countries. The aim is to identify, through statistical crosses, Latin-American companies with potential to invest in productive clusters in a region of the Pacific Alliance, and to turn it into a platform for transformation and distribution of goods that target other markets of the Pacific Alliance, taking advantage of the tariff benefits and competitive advantages of the region within the framework of that agreement. The analysis allowed the identification of six companies in Argentina, nine in Brazil and fourteen in Ecuador, with potential to invest in the region of Valle del Cauca in Colombia, in sectors such as processed foods, automotive, packaging and personal care, among others.

In order to do it, an empirical study with a sample of 386 companies from Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru was conducted. The methodology of multiple linear regressions by Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) was applied to verify the relationships observed. The results show that innovation in products, processes and management has a positive impact on the growth of employment and sales, also on profits. La Alianza del Pacífico: ¿apuesta estratégica de la política exterior colombiana?
(Universidad Icesi, 2016-10-01) Terán, José Miguel; Coutin, Ricardo
The article develops a comparative study of bilateral treaties of the members of the Pacific Alliance with China, South Korea and Japan since 1990. This field of study has been little explored; hence the article seeks to provide a first approach with special emphasis on trade relations. Therefore, the document presents a comparison between main indicators of foreign trade and the bilateral treaties with Asian counterparts. Afterwards, it focuses on the use that can be given to rules of origin within the Alliance. The text concludes that Colombia, due to its position among its partners of the Alliance, can make use of cumulation as a strategy of short and medium term to promote and diversify international trade.

Brecha de género en los países miembros de la Alianza del Pacífico
(Universidad Icesi, 2016-10-01) De la Garza, Jorge; Vázquez Parra, José Carlos; Arredondo Trapero, Florina
This article aims at studying the gender gap in Latin America. It was focusing on identifying, with an analysis of variance (ANOVA), which variables influence the gap between men and women in the countries of the Pacific Alliance to contrast them with the rest of Latin America. The information was extracted from the World Economic Forum database. It was found that only one variable ‘the economic participation of women’ has a significant difference between this group of countries compared to the rest of Latin America. Also, it was identified that the variable ‘political empowerment’, presents an important difference which is also analyzed. It is concluded that the Pacific Alliance presents lower indicators in this variable, therefore it is important to promote and increase the participation of women in economic and political activities in this group of countries.

Análisis estructural de la red económica de exportaciones e importaciones de la Alianza del Pacífico y el Mercado Común del Sur
(Universidad Icesi, 2016-09-01) Lámbarry Vilchis, Fernando
Several integration treaties have occurred in the history of Latin America. The most recent between them is the Pacific Alliance, which represents an opportunity for regional unification by means of the Southern Common Market. Studies on this issue and trade about integrations with central structures and blocs of countries on the periphery which promotes regional asymmetries are recurrent. Consistent with this, the objective of this study is to analyze the structural centrality of commercial economic exchange of both blocks and an eventual integration. The research method involved calculating centrality metrics grounded in network theory. It is concluded that the blocks have a layered structure and final effective integration should move towards a strategic regionalism.

Subsequently, an ANOVA of innovation variables is presented. The group of countries that are part of the Pacific Alliance is contrasted with the rest of Latin American countries to find significant differences between them. The study concludes that patent application is a differentiating innovation variable for competitiveness in the Pacific Alliance in relation to the rest of Latin America.
