Ítem Inequidades socioeconómicas en el uso de servicios sanitarios de atención primaria en Ecuador(Universidad Icesi, 2017-07-01) Armijos Bravo, Grace; Camino Mogro, SegundoIn Latin America there are few studies on socioeconomic inequalities in health variables and very few that analyze inequities in the use of health services.Weinvestigate the determinants of the use of public health services regarding preventive and healing visits, as well as the horizontal inequity by calculating the horizontal inequity index of Ecuador’s adult population using data from 2012. The results show that there is no evidence of horizontal inequity in the use of preventive and healing health care services. However, we found that groups such as indigenous, individuals with no health insurance, with no education and residents in the urban-coast show a lower probability of using both preventive and healing services.Ítem Factores que el fabricante/distribuidor toma en consideración para la comercialización de alimentos especiales en mercados foráneos(Universidad Icesi, 2017-07-01) Orengo Serra, Karen L.This article aims at identifying the factors related to the characteristics of the product that manufacturers and distributors take into account for the commercialization of specialty food in international niches markets. The qualitative methodology of case studies based on in-depth interviews constitutes the research tool in this study. The results reflect that quality remains as the essential factor in the negotiation between the distributor/importer and the manufacturer to market their products in the niche market of specialty food. The relationship between the manufacturer and the distributors should be close and fluid in a way that strengthens trust and encourages the development of a mutually beneficial long-term relationship.Ítem Análisis evaluativo a los procesos de marketing en la internacionalización de las pequeñas y medianas empresas de alimentos de Medellín(Universidad Icesi, 2017-07-01) Cepeda Palacio, Samuel DavidThe following paper intends to analyze the marketing strategies for the internationalization of food small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the city of Medellin (Colombia), with the purpose of showing the context where those companies are when it comes to expand their operations into foreign markets. By means of an evaluative methodology, a qualitative study is presented, which uses the different points of analysis required by those studies (input, process and product), creating four emerging categories showing the current situation of those companies in terms of incursion process, resources available, main obstacles, and problems with the information of the market.Ítem Evaluation of the perception and application of social responsibility practices in micro, small and medium companies in Barranquilla. An analysis from the theory of Stakeholders(Universidad Icesi, 2017-07-01) Benavides Gutiérrez, Hamadys L.The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the degree of comprehension and enforcement of social responsibility (SR) practices in micro, small and medium companies in Barranquilla (Colombia), based on the Stakeholders theory. Using an exploratory factor analysis on 779 companies it was found that the variables with a stronger explanatory influence for socially responsible performance are employees, environment, and community. By contrast, corporate management, value chain, and government/public sector condition the development of SR actions. Particularly, there is a weak perception and lack of will among owners and company managers to undertake comprehensive programs of social responsibility, as well as the formalization of those actions with an impact on the SR.Ítem Influencia de la inteligencia emocional sobre las competencias laborales: un estudio empírico con empleados del nivel administrativo(Universidad Icesi, 2017-07-01) Duque Ceballos, José LuisEste artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la influencia de la inteligencia emocional sobre el desarrollo de las competencias laborales, a través de la aplicación de una encuesta a 122 estudiantes de maestría con experiencia laboral superior a tres años y que se encuentran desempeñando cargos administrativos. La metodología utilizada es la regresión lineal estimando previamente un análisis factorial exploratorio para agrupar las aptitudes personales y sociales de la inteligencia emocional. En los resultados se comprueba que la inteligencia emocional representada en las aptitudes emocionales y sociales influye positivamente sobre las competencias laborales, encontrando que aspectos como el reconocimiento de emociones, el trabajo en equipo, la comunicación, la orientación al logro, la percepción y la negociación son características del individuo que favorecen la formación de competencias afectando el desempeño laboral.Ítem La expansión internacional de la firma: experiencia de una pyme del sector tecnológico de Argentina(Universidad Icesi, 2017-07-01) Moreno López, AlejandraTraditionally, the theories on international expansion of a firm have assumed that similar companies follow unique patterns of behaviour. However, reality shows companies as interpreters of organizational growth opportunities that carry out heterogeneous actions when they become internationalized. This research, through an investigation of a case study, aims at understanding the experience of the managers of a SME in the technological sector of Argentina; who took the decision of becoming internationalized without following a pattern. In order to perceive the singularity that characterizes it, and through the managers’ discourse analysis, we can reach a better understanding on how they build their organizational world, which becomes convincing, reliable and meaningful for all of them.Ítem El efecto de los mecanismos internos de control en las operaciones con información privilegiada(Universidad Icesi, 2017-07-01) del Brío, Esther B.This paper analyzes the use of privileged information in the purchase operations of Spanish insiders and how the ownership structure affects their transactional behavior. For this, an empirical study was carried out with a sample of 2,233 purchase operations. For the calculation of the abnormal returns, the methodology of event study was applied, and for the analysis of the effect of the property structure, multiple linear regressions were used. The results provide evidence on the coexistence of control and expropriation effects of ownership concentration, the coexistence of the effects of convergence and entrenchment of the property of the insiders, and the effect of the shareholder type on abnormal returns.Ítem Universidades influyentes en investigación sobre orientación al mercado. Una visión general entre 1990 y 2014(Universidad Icesi, 2017-07-01) Valenzuela Fernández, Leslier; Merigó, José M.; Nicolás, CarolinaEl objetivo de este estudio es identificar las universidades más productivas e influyentes para la comunidad científica sobre el tópico de orientación al mercado. Lo anterior se realiza principalmente a través de indicadores bibliométricos —como el índice h— y la relación total citas/total artículos para el periodo 1990-2014, a partir de la información encontrada en Web of Science. Dentro de los hallazgos se destaca el interés de la comunidad científica en esta temática, lo que se ve reflejado en el aumento considerado en la contribución que se ha generado durante los últimos 25 años. Además, se determina un ranking de las 30 universidades más influyentes, junto con un ranking que relaciona universidades y revistas con mayor influencia en temas de orientación al mercado.
