Caracterización de uso del vehículo privado y del servicio público

Este estudio identifica las variables socioeconómicas que pueden influir en la elección de un medio de transporte, privado o público, en la ciudad de Cali. Para ello se utilizan fuentes primarias de información a través del diseño y aplicación de encuestas de movilidad urbana para el año 2018, realizadas con ayuda del Observatorio de Políticas Públicas POLIS de la Universidad ICESI. La investigación encuentra que la comodidad y el tiempo de desplazamiento son fundamentales a la hora de decidir qué medio de transporte utilizar.

This study identifies the socioeconomic variables that influence the type of transportation choice, private or public, in the city of Cali. For this purpose, primary sources of information are used through the design and application of urban mobility surveys for the year 2018, developed with Observatory of Public Policies - POLIS - of the ICESI University. Our results show that both comfort and commuting time is important on the type of transportation decision. The transportation system most used by Cali population is MIO despite its deficiency and limit offer problems. Also, the change on the decision can be affected by exogenous shocks, as taxes and prices, in the income level surveyed people
