Determinantes del emprendimiento por necesidad y oportunidad en Latinoamérica

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo principal determinar qué factores influyen en que una persona decida emprender por necesidad u oportunidad basándose en un modelo econométrico que se realizó con unas variables tomadas de la encuesta de la CAF (Banco de desarrollo de América Latina) 2012 sobre emprendimiento. Los resultados concluyen que, en el caso de los emprendedores por necesidad hay mayor probabilidad de emprender si el individuo es un hombre, que no es soltero, que está entre los 31 y 50 años, y que además tienen un bajo nivel de satisfacción de vida. De igual forma se encontró que estas personas son influenciadas al tener padres emprendedores, y que tienen bajo acceso a servicios financieros. Por último, se observó que hay más probabilidad de encontrar este tipo de emprendimiento en países como Bolivia, Brasil, Perú, Colombia, Ecuador y Uruguay. Para el caso de los emprendimientos por oportunidad se establece que hay mayor probabilidad de emprender si el individuo es un hombre, que está entre los 31 y 65 años, y que además cuenta con un bajo nivel de educación y con altos niveles de ingreso.

The main objective of this work is to determine what factors influence a person's decision to undertake based on need or opportunity based on an econometric model that was made with variables taken from the CAF (Latin American Development Bank) survey 2012 on entrepreneurship. The results conclude that, in the case of entrepreneurs by necessity there is a greater probability of undertaking if the individual is a man, who is not single, who is between 31 and 50 years old, and who also have a low level of life satisfaction. In the same way, it was found that these people are influenced by having enterprising parents, and that they have low access to financial services. Finally, it was observed that there is more probability of finding this type of entrepreneurship in countries such as Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Uruguay. In the case of entrepreneurship by opportunity, it is established that there is a greater probability of undertaking if the individual is a man, who is between 31 and 65 years old, and who also has a low level of education and high levels of income. Likewise, these people are influenced by having enterprising parents, who in their personality traits highlight the need for achievement and autonomy, and who, in addition, have a high-risk tolerance, that is, they support high uncertainty in the results. Finally, it was observed that there is more probability of finding this type of entrepreneurship in countries such as Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Panama
