Abstract
With the growing concern for the national and regional growth and development, the
investigations
related
with poverty have gained a higher importance day by day. In this
paper a regional poverty measurement in Colombia is done through
a new method: the T
IP
curves. This
allow
s to include in a sole
graphic method the three dimensions of poverty:
incidence, intensity and inequality. Ordinal and cardinal comparisons about the
interregional poverty conditions are done
throughout the document, besides an analys
is
with
other
poverty measures, such as the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI). An
alternative method is used to establish the dominance between the TIP curves, finding their
area under the curve, and it is found that there are not significant differences in the
inequality of the poverty gaps
among regions
