| spa |
| dc.description.abstract | This research project addresses the friction between students' enthusiasm for learning English and severe classroom coexistence issues—characterized by resistance to teamwork and inappropriate peer language—among thirty eighth-grade basic-level students at the Bartolomé Lobo Guerrero School. To build a supportive and respectful learning environment, the pedagogical intervention deployed a Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach focused on enhancing intercultural awareness. Under this framework, students researched and shared their own family heritage, customs, and traditions, highlighting the cultural diversity within the student body. Guided by literature emphasizing that self-cultural recognition is a prerequisite for effective interaction (Burikova, 2020; Pérez & Téllez, 2018), the project used local cultural themes and structured collaboration to foster empathy, tolerance, and open-mindedness. Preliminary findings suggest that anchoring language learning to identity exploration successfully reduced interpersonal conflict, transforming the classroom climate into a cooperative space while simultaneously bolstering communicative confidence in English. | eng |
