However, the proposal of new approaches have not significantly contributed to progress in the study of strategy. Stagnation is evident, and for this reason this paper outlines a proposal that brings together some of the challenges for the study of strategy. However, when a population ecology approach is used, there is a focus on the relationships between the players of the organization and the interaction of three main variables: the power of the players,the intimacy between them and the lethality oftheir actions. The latter two are requested on loan from the functional classification proposed by the ecology of populations and crucial in the predator-prey relationship. This paper exploits such knowledge in the ecology, and argues that their study provides an understanding of the management styles in the organization.
