Estado, nación y conflicto en la Ucrania contemporánea no es ni mucho menos el de hacer un balance del EuroMaydan y sus efectos sobre la Ucrania de hoy sino, al contrario, abrir un panorama del pasado que permite situar los dramáticos acontecimientos de 2014 en una perspectiva histórica más amplia y así contribuir a un mejor entendimiento. Este libro está compuesto por textos de cinco autores que aportan perspectivas particulares, pero que, a pesar de esta particularidad, giran sobre un eje temático común que es el de la controvertida existencia de Ucrania como “tierra fronteriza” entre Este y Oeste. Cada una de las contribuciones individuales cubre una etapa específica de la historia ucraniana conduciendo así, en profundización progresiva, desde los tiempos más remotos, pasando por el siglo XIX y la larga etapa soviética hasta los estremecimientos políticos y sociales más recientes de la Ucrania independiente.Ítem " History Speaks Our Language!" A Comparative Study of Historical Narratives in Soviet and Post-Soviet School Textbooks in the Caucasus(Instituto Georg Eckert, 2007-01-01) Rouvinski, VladimirLong before the demise of the USSR, Western Sovietologists had noted the fact that in the Soviet Union the official version of history changed frequently. However, there is something that has passed almost unnoticed by the majority of scholars; namely, the debate about which version of history should be considered as true, and accepted as the official version to be included in school textbooks in the Soviet autonomous republics. This paper deals with several aspects of this process and its legacy by examining the way in which the distant past is presented in Soviet and post-Soviet school history textbooks. The author reveals the conflicting ethnic historical narratives in the textbooks of rival ethnic groups, focusing on the use of linguistic arguments to link ethnic identity to the territory controlled by the ‘titular’ ethnic group, and on the justification of the historical legitimacy of claims to territories by neighboring rival ethnic groups.

Este es un conflicto que se libra a lo largo de líneas étnicas y los orígenes de esta rivalidad se remonta a la historia soviética de la región. En este trabajo, teniendo en cuenta como punto de partida los debates principales en el área de estudios de las naciones y el nacionalismo, el autor trata de aclarar las bases de los problemas modernos de la región del Cáucaso. Shnirelman(Universidad de Hiroshima, 2003-03-01) Rouvinski, VladimirIn ethnic conflicts of the former Soviet Transcaucasia, each conflicting group is trying its best to demonstrate the legitimacy of their claims mainly by the criteria of homeland and language. Such choice of criteria is based on Soviet practice, when ethnic groups could enjoy degrees of privilege of territorial political autonomy only when they were considered to be indigenous ethnic groups of the territories in question. Thus, most of the ethnic groups had to show that they were an autochthonous population in a particular territory which had continued to live there using their own language from the very beginning of their existence as a unique ethnic group.Ítem Prólogo.
