    Este caso de estudio ilustra, a través de la formulación de un proyecto, los retos y decisiones a las que se enfrenta una empresa colombiana en un proceso de conquista de nuevos mercados, Esto le podría exigir un cambio radical en sus operaciones, dejando de ser una compañía exclusivamente comercial para convertirse también en una empresa manufacturera, conservando su producto principal y estableciendo una integración vertical.

    The discussion related to the market efficiency and its implications on business performance has been a constant topic in the economic and financial research. This paper follows this branch, analyzing the “weekend effect” on the return and volatility of the stock exchange index in Chile, Brasil, Mexico and Colombia. The research uses a GARCH-M model applied to the closing daily prices in order to isolate abnormal returns and volatilities related to the “weekend effect”. Furthermore, it makes a review of previous papers and its results.

    Since the 80´s the Shared Service Centers became an interesting choice to group services and processes in order to achieve more efficiency and better performance in the organizations. EMCALI decided to set this model more than 25 years ago, enhancing synergies and achieving a better fit between processes and operations but, even though the total efficiency had improved, is not clear the effect on each business unit because the pricing model had no changes in all these years which may result in business units assuming bigger costs than the related to their demand to the shared services center. This paper makes a review of the most used pricing methods in the shared services centers and suggests a proposal to reach a more realistic model for this organization
