Ítem Water flows modelling and forecasting using a RBF neural network(Universidad Icesi, 2008-12-17) Fajardo Toro, Carlos Hernán; Fernández Riverola, Florentino; Soto González, Benedicto; González Peña, DanielA hydrologic estimation model base on the utilization of radial basis function neural networks is presented, in which the aim is to forecast stream flows in an automated fashion. The problem of river flow forecasting is a non-trivial task because (i) the various physical mechanisms governing the river flow dynamics act on a wide range of temporal and spatial scales and (ii) almost all mechanisms involved in the river flow process present some degree of nonlinearity. The proposed neural network was used to forecast daily river discharges in a river basin providing satisfactory results and outperforming previous.Ítem Análisis descriptivo del proceso de implementación del nivel 2 del modelo CMMI en una empresa regional de desarrollo de software(Universidad Icesi, 2008-12-18) Picazzo M., Catherine; Villegas Machado, Norha Milena; Tamura Morimitsu, GabrielCMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) is basically a continuous- improvement inspired model to classify software development organizations according to a fivelevel maturity and capability scale. The classification in a given level is based on the dominance that an organization shows evidence to have over the areas of that level, which in turn reflects the degree of maturity of the organization and of the processes that it follows to develop software. This article presents a preliminary descriptive analysis of a level 2 implementation process of the CMMI model in a Colombian software development company, making an overall presentation of how it was brought into practice the theory of the model in the processes of the company, to be compliant with the conditions, goals and practices defined in the level 2 process areas of the model. The article also describes the problems which arose in the execution of the project, as well as how they were solved. As preliminary results are presented some of the indicators defined by the company for the software processes, and the software tools that were acquired or developed for the support of the implementation of the process areas. Finally, some conclusions and recommendations which can be found.Ítem Ambiente software de entrenamiento de redes neuronales con ajuste evolutivo de la topología y las funciones de activación(Universidad Icesi, 2009-08-18T21:03:41Z) Méndez Ortiz, Edgar; Mariño, Juan Sebastián; Arguello Fuentes, HenryThis research examines two problems in the optimization in the neural networks used for most real applications: first, architectural design that involves determining the number of layers and neurons by layer, and second, the activation functions that will be should use in each of these layers. For it is developed a software tool based on genetic algorithms to find these parameters of a neural network. The developed tool allows the user to choose the algorithm used for training and also apply techniques to achieve better generalization such as the early stopping, the repetition of training and adjusting the training data to the activation functions used. Finally, the developed tool is tested into a specialized group of users who use the tool to find an optimal neural network architecture to solve a problem of identity verification through the facial image using artificial neural networks.Ítem Vol. 7 No. 14, Julio/Diciembre 2009 / Sistemas & Telemática(Universidad Icesi, 2010-03-24T23:32:24Z) Universidad IcesiEsta edición incluye: Guía de implementación HL7 para sistemas de notificación obligatoria en salud pública en Colombia; Acceso al crédito y límites del crecimiento en Pymes: una mirada a través de la dinámica de sistemas; Traspasos verticales: Visión general e innovaciones; Aspectos metodológicos del proceso de adopción del estándar HL7v3 en Colombia: la experiencia del Comité Técnico de Casos de Uso de Laboratorio Clínico; Algoritmos de planificación en redes de paquetes; y Aplicación de herramientas de pensamiento sistémico para el aprendizaje de Lean Manufacturing.Ítem GenLeNa: Sistema para la construcción de Aplicaciones de Generación de Lenguaje Natural(Universidad Icesi, 2007-08-01) Linares, Diego Luis; Jordán O., Rafael Armando; Chala T., Gloria JohannaIn this article the proposal is made for the division of the process of construction of natural language generation (NLG) systems into two stages: content planning (CP), which is dependent on the mastery of the application to be developed, and document structuring (DS). This division allows people who are not expert in NLG to develop natural language generation systems, concentrating on building abstract representations of the information to be communicated (called messages). SpeciÞ c architecture for the DS stage is also presented. This enables NLG researchers to work ortogonally on speciÞ c techniques and methodologies for the conversion of messages into text which is grammatically and syntactically correctÍtem Desarrollo de herramientas computacionales para la búsqueda de secuencias reguladoras de la transcripción en procariotas(Universidad Icesi, 2008-03-27) Pérez, Antonio; Pérez, Carlos Andrés; Falgueras, JuanThis paper deals with a PERL program for tracking the DNA sequences that join transcription factors regulating the genetic expression of prokaryotic cells. The gene sets where obtained from their expressions under the same environmental conditions. The model organism was the lactococcus lactis, an organism for which we possess its sequenced genome in gene bank format. The program found a larger number of possible regulatory sequences in the 5’ flanking region of the genes. The number of possible regulatory sequences was also determined for the amount of genes that made up the set. The program also located flanking gene sequences which could also be involved in its regulation but at a translational level. The comparison of the results with patterns obtained experimentally, was done by means of nucleotide position weight matrices, getting around 50% regulating sequences which coincide with those reported in the databases, indicating good program prediction capability, if you account for the fact that most prokaryotic cell regulating sequences have yet to be characterized by experimental methods.Ítem Un modelo de referencia para la especificación y análisis de Sistemas de Información para Vigilancia en Salud Pública(Universidad Icesi, 2008-03-27) López Gutiérrez, Diego MauricioThe specification of Health Information Systems is one of the more difficult stages in a software development project, especially when the development team has a limited knowledge about health care domain, because of the complexity of health business processes. The paper presents a reference model for the specification and analysis of Information systems for Public Health Surveillance. The aim of this model is to facilitate the design of the Requirements and Analysis Models defined in traditional software development processes. The usability of the model was demonstrated by supporting the requirements specification and analysis of a public health surveillance system in the Department of Cauca, Colombia. The proposed approach enhances the reusability and interoperability of final systems and it can be extended to any information system in a different domain.Ítem Taxonomías de la visualización de información(Universidad Icesi, 2008-03-27) Guzmán Cortés, Oscar HernandoTaxonomies of information visualization are a very useful element to get a better understanding of its characteristics and approaches. This paper presents some of the main taxonomies related to information visualization. Some taxonomies are applied to specific application domains and another taxonomies are independents of its particular context of use. For both researches and users, knowledge of these taxonomies helps to choose the better development of information visualizations in their particular application areas.
