El racismo estructural genera relaciones complejas entre las poblaciones más vulnerables en las escalas jerárquicas que configura y las instancias institucionales que le son propias. Los capítulos de este tomo discuten esta premisa desde diferentes ángulos. Por ejemplo, se estudian las decisiones de la Corte Constitucional en casos de discriminación racial; los pro- cesos de representación y participación política de la población afrodescendiente en el país; los impactos que tiene la ausencia de instituciones gubernamentales en estos territorios; y el racismo que experimenta la niñez afrocolombiana en instituciones educativas. De esta manera, las investigaciones que se presentan en este tomo amplían las discusiones sobre conceptos tales como interseccionalidad, destierro y colonialismo, al tiempo que proponen nuevas miradas sobre las dinámicas que constituyen el surgimiento de los movimientos sociales afrocolombianos y sus reclamos por el reconocimiento de sus derechos frente a diferentes instancias del Estado.

Structural racism generates complex relationships between the most vulnerable populations in the hierarchical scales it configures and the institutional instances that are inherent to it. The chapters in this volume discuss this premise from different angles. For example, the decisions of the Constitutional Court in cases of racial discrimination are studied; the processes of representation and political participation of the Afro-descendant population in the country; the impacts of the absence of governmental institutions in these territories; and the racism experienced by Afro-Colombian children in educational institutions. In this way, the research presented in this volume expands the discussions on concepts such as intersectionality, displacement, and colonialism, while proposing new perspectives on the dynamics that constitute the emergence of Afro-Colombian social movements and their demands for the recognition of their rights before different instances of the State.
