Resumen
A study of the languages in the Vaupes basin region, its adjacent rivers and parts of the Negro River basin, which contains part of Colombia and Brazil. Presents the zone's recent cultural characterization, which is notable for the proliferation of diverse forms of multilinguism. Linguistic exogamy is largely reponsible for this phenomenon. It includes combinations with Spanish and Portuguese, as well as the numerous indigenous languages. The author explores the different linguistic patterns, and the dynamic involved in the expansion and retraction of the region's different languages.-from English summary
