Ítem Distrinox, ¿cómo crecer rentablemente?(Universidad Icesi, 2018-01-01) Castellanos Ordoñez, GermánThis case study aims to put into practice the customer management concept in a Colombian firm that imports and sells stainless steel to ensure its profitable growth. In order to achieve this goal, information about the market, the competitors, the company as well as its products and customers is provided for the reader to define actions regarding the products and services portfolio to grow profitably.Ítem Efecto patrimonial del proceso de convergencia contable en las Pymes colombianas(Universidad Icesi, 2018-01-01) Lasso Marmolejo, Guiovanny; Ruano Delgado, Carlos Jair; Vargas Sierra, Carlos ArturoThe purpose of this article is to measure the equity effect of the accounting convergence process on Colombian small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). Taking a sample of 12.058 companies, the equity effect was established based on the comparison of accounting information presented under local principles and pursuant International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for SMEs. It was found that the equity value of the companies analyzed under the new accounting framework is lower. Additionally, inventories, trade accounts receivable, as well as intangibles show negative variations, while property, facility and equipment show increases. Increases in the value of equity and property, facility and equipment were found for manufacturing SMEs.Ítem Propuesta metodológica para implementar la primera fase del modelo de gestión del cambio organizacional de Lewin(Universidad Icesi, 2018-01-01) Carrasco Sagredo, Claudia; Martínez Bustos, Eric; Bull, María T.Paper proposes a methodology to implement the first stage of Lewin’s organizational change management model, known as the unfreeze stage. First, a survey was administered to employees to determine the individual typologies and organizations present in the company. Subsequently, the multi-criteria method Elimination et Choix Traduisant la Réalité (ELECTRE) was used to identify the set of minimum factors to be modified in order to successfully implement a change project. This proposal allows focusing the efforts of change managers, making them more effective to develop action plans for unfreezing prejudices. The priority typologies determined for this case were the ignorant and the lethargic under the individual dimension and the static and the monotonous classes under the organizational dimension.Ítem Modelos para evaluar la sostenibilidad de las organizaciones(Universidad Icesi, 2018-01-01) Bajo Sanjuán, Anna María; Plasencia Soler, Juan Antonio; Marrero Delgado, FernandoThe complex nature of organizational sustainability has challenged researchers, scholars and international agencies and institutions when searching for a model. This is reflected in the wide variety of frameworks, methodologies and methods existing in current literature. This research study approaches the models that aim to assess enterprise sustainability relying on sustainable development principles as well as on ethical theories of social responsibility in the organizational realm. In order to achieve this goal, this paper identifies the main distinctive features and modifications introduced to each model since its emergence, which allows to classify them into three groups, and finally points out its advantages and disadvantages.Ítem Optimización de portafolios de inversión con costos de transacción utilizando un algoritmo genético multiobjetivo: caso aplicado a la Bolsa de Valores de Colombia(Universidad Icesi, 2018-01-01) Rivera, Juan Carlos; De Greiff, SamuelThis paper discusses portfolio optimization by considering constraints imposed by financial markets and conditions of projects with excess liquidity, such as transaction costs, limited budget and short time planning horizons. In light of these constraints, conventional models are found to generate non-efficient portfolios. Consequently, a mathematical model is formulated and a multiobjective genetic algorithm is implemented in order to find efficient portfolios in the Colombian Stock Exchange (Bolsa de Valores de Colombia), minimizing risks and maximizing profits. In addition, results are shown which allow comparison between those portfolios obtained through the proposed model and the mean-variance model, highlighting the importance of transaction costs and budget in investment decision making.Ítem Eficiencia de pequeñas empresas de agricultura protegida en la adopción de innovaciones en México(Universidad Icesi, 2018-01-01) Palacios Rangel, María Isabel; Vargas Canales, Juan Manuel; Medina Cuellar, Sergio Ernesto; Ocampo Ledesma, orge Gustavo; Camacho Vera, Joaquín Huitzilihuitl; Aguilar Ávila, JorgeThe aim of this research was to identify the factors that influence the efficiency in the adoption of innovations in protected agricultural systems. For the study of these factors, a hierarchical cluster analysis was performed in which three clusters were obtained that showed clearly differentiated behavior. To identify the differences between groups, a variance analysis and a chi-square test was performed. The results show that efficiency in the adoption of innovations is related to the producer’s schooling, his experience, and access to extension services. Derived from the above, it is important to promote greater articulation among producers, promote an integral extensionism capable of promoting collective development and interactions that are developed and evolved in the territories.Ítem La influencia de los objetivos de compra en la efectividad de las acciones de trade marketing dentro de los supermercados(Universidad Icesi, 2018-01-01) Alzamora Ruiz, Jessica N.; Wakabayashi Muroya, Jose L.; Guerrero Medina, Carlos A.This research study aims to analyze the influence of purchase objectives on the effectiveness of trade-marketing activities implemented in supermarkets. In order to achieve this goal a survey was administered to 800 supermarket customers during their purchase process. The findings, resulting from variables association tests and proportion difference testing, suggest that consumers driven by concrete purchasing objectives are more sensitive to trade-marketing actions than those driven by abstract objectives. These findings contribute to reformulating the trade-marketing strategies implemented in supermarkets, which should rely on customer segmentation based on purchase objectives in order to achieve greater effectiveness in markets with high competitive intensity, such as the Latin American market.Ítem Risk assessment methodology: implementation of duration gap in corporate portfolios in order to reduce the systemic risk(Universidad Icesi, 2018-01-01) Legendre, François; Manco López, Oscar; Medina Hurtado, Santiago; Botero, OscarIn this article we propose a new methodology for measuring companies with financial risk exposure, based on the concept of duration in assets and liabilities management that can be applied in corporate portfolios. Risk indicators in banks usually try to measure the dynamic of accounts in the income statement and capital levels. With this research, we demonstrate how the methodology can be applied from banks to any company or industry sector. Then, we compare the methods for managing accounts in financial institutions and also identifying their adaptability to any type of corporation. We also made a comparison between the management elements used in financial markets and organizations assets, verifying their adaptability level. Finally, we present a real case study.Ítem Emprendimiento de negocios propios en el Perú: el rol de los factores sociodemográficos personales a nivel de departamentos(Universidad Icesi, 2018-01-01) Mendoza, Juan LeónThis article aims to determine the socio-demographic variables that influence the creation of self-owned businesses in Peru at the individual level. Data from the 2015’s National Household Survey on Living Conditions and Poverty (ENAHO) was used to perform probit econometric regressions for each one of the 24 departments in Peru. The results indicate that the individual socio-demographic characteristics that explained best the creation of businesses in all departments were age, work situation, work experience, achieved educational level, household size, the condition of being the head of household and the number of household individuals that generate income. Another 11 socio-demographic considered variables showed statistical significance only at some departments.Ítem Satisfacción laboral: una revisión de la literatura acerca de sus principales determinantes(Universidad Icesi, 2018-01-01) Dabos, Guillermo E.; Pujol Cols, Lucas J.Although job satisfaction has received considerable attention during most of the last century, it is still surprising how fragmented this field of studies is and how limited the efforts for integration have been. With the aim of identifying the key factors that have been suggested as key antecedents of job satisfaction in the empirical literature, we conduct a review of relevant research studies published in high-impact journals in the last two decades. Our findings reveal that research considering both dispositional and situational antecedents of job satisfaction is still very limited. Finally, this article analyzes major gaps in literature and suggests potential lines of research.
