Ítem KeyConcept : Un motor de búsqueda conceptual(Universidad Icesi, 2006-07-28) Madrid Molina, Juan Manuel; Gauch, SusanAs the number of available Web pages grows, users experience increasing difficulty finding documents relevant to their interests. One of the underlying reasons for this is that most search engines find matches based on keywords, regardless of their meanings. To provide the user with more useful information, we need a system that includes information about the conceptual frame of the queries as well as its keywords. This is the goal of KeyConcept, a search engine that retrieves documents based on a combination of keyword and conceptual matching. Documents are automatically classified to determine the concepts to which they belong. Query concepts are determined automatically from a small description of the query or explicitly entered by the user. This paper describes the system architecture, the training of the classifier, and the results of our experiments evaluating system performance. Finalmente, se presentan los resultados y una serie de conclusiones y pasos a seguir.Ítem Estructura básica del proceso unificado de desarrollo de software(Universidad Icesi, 2006-07-28) Castro Gil, Robin AlbertoFor a long time, the traditional waterfall model has been used in software development. Over this time it has demonstrated that it does not reflect properly the inherent complexity of the software development process. The problems that this model presents stem from its structure: a sequence of large stages that have complete documentation as a milestone before being able to continue to the following stage. To solve this problem it is neccesary to use iterative and incremental methods that together with other key practices, such as risk management and the adaptable planning, provide a natural guidance to the software development process. IBM’s RUP is taken into special consideration. RUP is based on the spiral model and organizes iterations into stages and phases in order to obtain a more solid, clear, and adjustable structure of the particular needs of every organization. This article aims to describe iterative development iterative in general and the advantages that its use offers in software develoment processes.Ítem Alineamiento de múltiples secuencias de aminoácidos usando algoritmos genéticos(Universidad Icesi, 2006-10-11) Solanilla, Luis FelipeThis article describes a genetic algorithm and its implementation that it allows the alignment of multiple sequences of amino acids by means of relocations that simulate the gaps insertion (holes) and actions of recombination to obtain higher scores in the alignment. Such scores are obtained by means of the method of the sum of even, in which there are considered all the possible combinations of amino acids in each column of the alignment and they are qualified being based on the punctuations of the matrix BLOSUM62.Ítem Aspectos claves en la definición y adopción de estándares de interoperabilidad electrónica de datos : El caso de HL7 en el área de la salud(Universidad Icesi, 2008-12-18) Tamura Morimitsu, Gabriel; Villegas Machado, Norha MilenaThis article presents the results of the analysis that the DRISO research group has conducted about some aspects which have been found as critical in the process of definition and adoption of standards for exchange of electronic data, in the context of the HL7 standard for interoperability in health. For each considered aspect, its potential contribution to a standard for semantic interoperability is identified, as well as how it is used in the modeling of the objects to exchange, and in the modeling of the exchange process itself. The analysis of the critical aspects of standards is done following the line of the evolution of HL7 standard, identifying and distinguishing their structural and dynamic aspects. Finally, as a matter of conclusion, a reflection about the applicability of this analysis to the Colombian Ministry of Communications GEL-XML project, for electronic data exchange of basic data in all sectors of the economy.Ítem Análisis descriptivo del proceso de implementación del nivel 2 del modelo CMMI en una empresa regional de desarrollo de software(Universidad Icesi, 2008-12-18) Picazzo M., Catherine; Villegas Machado, Norha Milena; Tamura Morimitsu, GabrielCMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) is basically a continuous- improvement inspired model to classify software development organizations according to a fivelevel maturity and capability scale. The classification in a given level is based on the dominance that an organization shows evidence to have over the areas of that level, which in turn reflects the degree of maturity of the organization and of the processes that it follows to develop software. This article presents a preliminary descriptive analysis of a level 2 implementation process of the CMMI model in a Colombian software development company, making an overall presentation of how it was brought into practice the theory of the model in the processes of the company, to be compliant with the conditions, goals and practices defined in the level 2 process areas of the model. The article also describes the problems which arose in the execution of the project, as well as how they were solved. As preliminary results are presented some of the indicators defined by the company for the software processes, and the software tools that were acquired or developed for the support of the implementation of the process areas. Finally, some conclusions and recommendations which can be found.Ítem Aplicación de la metáfora de la colonia de hormigas en la administración de direcciones en redes móviles ad hoc(Universidad Icesi, 2009-08-18T21:00:06Z) Veiga, Manuel Fernández; Pachón de la Cruz, AlvaroAddress management is a critical process in a network, because any node wishing to make part of the network must first obtain an address. Address management in MANETs poses particular challenges, due to their operation conditions, their dynamic topology and the unique events that take place inside them. This article presents an approach for solving the address management problem in this environment, using the self-organization and emergency principles governing the behavior of social insect colonies, particularly ant colonies. The article presents results that evaluate the proposal’s validity and efficiency through several scenarios. Three fundamental aspects were evaluated: Model functionality, efficiency and impact on user applications. The obtained results show the proposed model is able to identify, manage and solve all the events related to address management in a MANET, in an efficient manner.Ítem Método de evaluación y selección de herramientas de simulación de redes(Universidad Icesi, 2011-03-01) García Dávalos, Alexander; Vásquez Mejía, Andrés; Navarro Cadavid, Andrés; Escobar Paz, Lina MarcelaCurrently exists many software tools designed for Network Simulation (both commercial and Open source), situation that present an important decision to make for many researchers: Which tool use for network simulation? This paper proposes a method for evaluation/selection of network simulation tools, based in two key factors: ISO/IEC 9126-1 standard, which defines a quality model for software evaluation; and a cost function, based on values assigned to each one of the six items defined by ISO/IEC 9126-1. This method allows an expert based classification for each of the analyzed tools.
